James gave his readers a powerful command when he said, Seest thou how faith wrought with his works, and by works was faith made perfect? (James 2:22). I think he was saying what we often express in cliché format, “Talk the talk, but don’t forget to walk the talk.” The same advice may be expressed in these words: Don’t let your behavior contradict your professed belief. After all, the real disconnect that comes from the Christian in today’s culture is the result of what happens when life and lip do not agree. Logically so, if our conduct doesn’t harmonize with our confession of faith, then our testimony becomes nullified.
As important as it is for our life to reflect Jesus, this does not excuse us from the need of knowing how to explain the gospel message clearly and effectively. Even the clearest explanation of the gospel isn’t going to win hearts for our Lord unless His love is embodied in our lives. That is why Paul exhorts the believers in 1 Corinthians 11:1, Be ye followers of me, even as I also am of Christ. Paul held himself as a right example and was never ashamed of the gospel. He said, Those things, which ye have both learned, and received, and heard, and seen in me, do: and the God of peace shall be with you. (Philippians 4:9).
Let others see Jesus as you live for Jesus!
Yeah...we do this stuff too :)
